CNN —Emma Raducanu’s Australian Open campaign came to a valiant end on Thursday as she fell to a three set – 4-6 6-4 4-6 – defeat to Wang Yafan. Raducanu had called for a medical assessment after going 2-0 down in the deciding set and had her blood pressure checked. While waiting for trainers to make their way onto the court, the tennis star sat slumped in her chair with a towel over her head. The apparent illness pushed Raducanu to finish rallies earlier and the 2021 US Open champion started digging deep to test her opponent with booming groundstrokes. Julian Finney/Getty ImagesFor Raducanu, who has struggled physically since bursting onto the women’s tour, it’s yet another lesson to learn.

Raducanu, who won her maiden Grand Slam title in New York as an 18-year-old qualifier in 2021, has not played since April, missing the French Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Open and dropping to number 214 in the rankings. "Next season I'll be back," she told the BBC. Raducanu has not crossed the second round of a Grand Slam since her Flushing Meadows triumph and has come in for her fair share of criticism. "The fact they're still talking about me even though I'm not at these events is just a compliment," the former world number 10 said. "Someone told me, 'worry when they're not talking about you'.

Last Saturday’s final between Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka exemplified some of the very best and very worst of the tournament. Their contrast of styles was on display for all to see: Sabalenka’s power and single-mindedness against Gauff’s ability to endure and problem-solve. Gauff’s win, however, was immediately understood as symbolizing American core values such as determination, grit and self-belief. This reflexive American triumphalism turns any final into little more than a prologue, with more and better promised in the future. It just sells the product; a grasping for greatness in the moment instead of simply letting the moment be.

Mr. Fritz has since failed to advance past the third round of any Grand Slam tournament. As such, the “Break Point” crew hasn’t spent much time with the couple for the scheduled second season, Ms. Riddle said. CNN —On Monday July 3, Italian tennis star and Men’s Singles contender Jannik Sinner arrived on the center court at Wimbledon with a custom Gucci duffle bag slung across one shoulder. Sinner became a brand ambassador for Gucci last year. The next generation of tennis players are even experimenting with jewelry: Russian player Andrey Rublev is known to layer several silver pendants, while Nick Kyrgios is rarely seen without his double hoop earrings. Permission for the highly-engineered moment was granted after a lengthy approval process involving the International Tennis Federation, Association of Tennis Professionals and Wimbledon. CNN —After winning the US Open at just 18 years old, Emma Raducanu had the world at her feet. Speaking to The Sunday Times, Raducanu touched on the side of sporting success that many don’t see and the impact it has had on her. “When I won I was extremely naive,” Raducanu admitted. Raducanu won the 2021 US Open, becoming the first qualifier to win the major, after defeating Canadian Leylah Fernandez 6-4 6-3 in Flushing Meadows’ first all-teen final since 1999. June 18 (Reuters) - Former U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu said she sometimes wishes she had not won the Grand Slam due to the pressure that came with the success and instant fame. "That moment on the court, when I was celebrating, I was like, I would literally trade any struggle in the world for this moment," Raducanu told the Sunday Times. The win came with praise but also exposed Raducanu to a previously unknown world, often ruthless and paved with expectations. When I won I was extremely naive," Raducanu said. Raducanu missed this year's French Open and will be absent from Wimbledon too while she recovers from surgery on her wrists and ankle.

The 20-year-old explained that as a result, she will miss this summer’s tennis events, including the French Open and Wimbledon. She suffered an ankle injury before the Australian Open earlier this year, while tonsillitis forced her to withdraw from the Austin Open in February. Meanwhile, a recurring wrist injury, which hampered Raducanu last season, came back during the Miami Open, where she exited in the first round. Last month, Raducanu lost in the first round of the Stuttgart Open in less than an hour. Raducanu in action during her round of 32 match against Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko at the Stuttgart Open.
